Program Description:

Virtual teams have become a major fixture in the workplace. The federal government utilizes virtual teaming because it has a dispersed workforce.  This dispersed workforce includes operations all over the US and in many countries around the world. Rapidly developing technology, expanding use of telework and the requirement to limit transportation costs makes virtual teams a necessity for many government agencies. These virtual teams need to operate efficiently to provide very important mandated government services.  As OD professionals we can use our expertise in team building to support the team development process.  We do need to develop the skills necessary to facilitate in a virtual environment which is quite different than a face to face meeting. This session will explore the OD tools/processes that can support virtual teams.  We will also provide a hands on exploration of the latest technology how to best apply it to the virtual setting.
