Don't Just Have the Soup: How Analogies Support Coaching and Leadership

Coaching theory centers around adult development, cognitive psychology, polarities and all manner of different frameworks. Coaching practice can revolve around toothpaste, soup, laundry and sofas!  We engage our clients by using our imagination to spark their imaginations.

This will be a highly interactive session in which participants will describe their own coaching analogies to each other -- in addition to hearing from the presenter. Participants will also gain new tools for their coaching toolboxes, in the form of useful analogies that have applied to Alan's coaching clients -- and to the clients of their colleagues in the room.

Bio:  Alan Heymann 

Alan Heymann, JD, PCC (he/him) has a knack for coaching fellow introverts, helping them find their superpowers in an extroverted world.  He also specializes in coaching through transitions — such as the transition from individual contributor to leader, the transition into a larger and more complex role, or the transition into a different career.

Alan has coached leaders who were born in 26 countries and work on 5 continents. His clients have spanned corporations (including the Fortune 50), nonprofit organizations, public utilities, federal, county and municipal governments.
