"SO YOU THINK YOU CAN'T DRAW?"

Program Description: A hands-on graphic jam designed to build your own visual vocabulary.

Presenter: Brian Tarallo, Managing Director, Lizard Brain Solutions

What is a visual vocabulary? A visual vocabulary is a mental English-to-visuals dictionary of ideas and icons. With a little practice, you can pull out your visual vocabulary at a moment’s notice and see the value of visuals yourself.

What is the value of visuals?

80% of your brain’s capacity is dedicated to visual processing. As David Sibbet, the founder of the Grove Consultants, wrote, "People are primed to use visual language." Studies of groups by John Sweller and the Wharton School of Business found that:

  • Visuals improve problem-solving by 19%.
  • Visuals produce 22% of the tension in 13% less time.
  • Visuals speed up decision-making by 64%.
  • Visuals reduce meeting time by 24%.
  • Visuals improve consensus by 21%
  • Visuals persuade 17% more participants.

Brian Tarallo, Managing Director of Lizard Brain Solutions will introduce participants to the basics of graphic facilitation, increase your confidence in your drawing skills, and provide you with the needed tools to start your own visual vocabulary. In addition, Brian will instruct you on techniques that can be used immediately in your own facilitation practices (flip charting, facilitating, and OD interventions). Lastly, Brian will discuss opportunities for further develop of your graphic facilitation and recording skills.

By the close of this workshop you will:

1. Improve your facilitation skills with the use of drawings

2. Learn new techniques for flip charting in your OD practice

3. Create your own visual library of icons

What more could you want? Brian will provide all participants with materials to help you excel in your flipchart practices; add drawings to your facilitations, and provide a visual library of icons.

Hope to see you there!
