PROCESS

The Awards Committee is convened annually, and is chaired by the Past President. The Committee will ideally include a past award recipient, up to three members at large, the Leadership Team member responsible for volunteer coordination (if such a position exists), and no more than one additional member of the Leadership Team.

The Awards Committee determines the finalists for the President’s Award, and makes the selection for the Founders’ Award from those nominated by the general membership. All members in good standing are invited to nominate fellow members for either of these awards. The Awards Committee determines whether the nominees for either award are worthy of advancing to the next step or receiving the award. Neither award is mandatory if none of the nominees meet or exceed the criteria stated above.

The Awards Committee is responsible for ensuring that every phase of the award process is well promoted via the Communiqué, the website, and the appropriate external media, from announcing that nominations are being solicited to deadline reminders to profiling the winners.

The Awards Committee may be asked to perform additional duties, such as helping to recruit future Awards Committees and proposing that the general overview of the awards program is incorporated into the by-laws and/or other appropriate vessels of organizational knowledge.
