Topic: Creating a Learning Organization from the Ground Up

Facilitators:  Madelyn Blair, PhD

Madelyn Blair is a speaker, author, and consultant to management. Her specialty is organizational learning with particular experience in narrative, knowledge management and personal knowledge management from strategic planning to career planning. She is a Taos Institute Associate and member of the Associates Council and co-moderator of Worldwide Story Work. She is author of Riding the Current: Overcoming Information Overload and Essays in Two Voices and contributing author of Making it Real: Sustaining Knowledge Management - Adapting for Success in the Knowledge Based Economy, Lessons from the Field, and Wake Me Up When the Data Is Over.

Program Description: Can staff create a learning organization for themselves? Can line managers really help staff develop themselves -- even without a budget? How do you keep up with the tidal wave of information that comes at you every day? Madelyn's talk will address all these questions and introduce an approach anyone can use. Based on her book, Riding the Current, she will offer strategies, case studies of usage with results, and how more recent technologies can be harnessed as well. Come prepared to work on your own goals, as well as learn the conceptual underpinnings of this successful approach.
