OD Book Discussion SIG: Joint CBODN/ASTD SIG

Topic:  World Cafe, Facilitated by Adriano Pianesi: apianesi@participactioninc.com

What if true leadership in today’s learning organizations relies more on hosting and facilitating meaningful strategic conversations and knowledge sharing than on directing and controlling people's work? What if true leadership involves embracing complexity by widening the circle of involvement rather than restricting it? Bring your most important leadership questions - and those of your organization - into this dynamic demo based on the book of Juanita Brown and David Isaacs “The World Café: Shaping our Futures through conversations that matter”. Join us for an actual World Café’ session and a brief Q&A. Together, we’ll talk about the art of hosting, the power of conversation, and how to design, convene, and host conversations that generate breakthrough results.

Adriano Pianesi is the principal of ParticipAction Consulting, Inc ., and has 15 years of experience in facilitating organizational change. An Action Learning coach and Harvard Discussion Method expert, he teaches workshops in the areas of organizational learning/communication and is an Adjunct Professor in the JHU MBA program. He is a prospect board member of the World Café Community Foundation.

SIG Description:

The OD SIG is built around the idea of an executive book summary.  Each month a volunteer presenter introduces and helps us understand the key ideas from a recently-published book whose topic is relevant to Organization Development practitioners.  It is not necessary to have read the book to participate; attendees are encouraged to join in the discussion based on personal experience.

Mission:  Network with other OD professionals and stay current on the latest trends, concepts and models.

Who would benefit from attending:  Any OD professional. Our group consists of experienced and new professionals as well as internal and external consultants.
