Organization Constellation CoP

Topic: Facilitating Social Change (Part Two)

You may have noticed how our society often tries to defend against or deny differences or polarize around them instead of seeking to allow them or even understand them.

At our last meeting in July we explored the discomfort/fear we have around discussing challenging topics in public. The space for a productive conversation will be limited if it is taken up by the flight, fight, freeze or forget reactions within one’s self or others. Constellation work gives us a tool to not be gripped by those reactions and the “stories” they are based on. If we bring enough self-awareness to the conversational space we can use the spiritual, emotional and physical or somatic domains to foster understanding.

In the July session we sought to strengthen our foundation of self-awareness and the ability to contain the discomfort of differences or difficult topics. In the upcoming session this August we will draw upon this foundation to explore the dynamics of a challenging social issue. We will still pay attention to the capacities needed to host this conversation as we wade a bit deeper into the pool of challenging topics that drive social change.

The isms of race, gender, age, class, origin seem to block our evolution as a society. Yet, if we approach them consciously, wholistically and courageously, they just might be our path forward.

Come join us on August 26, 2016 for a soulful and insightful exploration into the nature of differences and fostering social change.
