Specific Opportunities
Annual Conference - The full day program provides latest
trends, nationally recognized OD speakers, as well as options for peer-reviewed
presentations and networking time. Members are entitled to reduced fees.
Special Interest Group Sessions
- Uniquely, CBODN encourages the growth of special learning groups about
organization development practice and theory. More than 12 groups (SIGs)
meet each month throughout the Washington, Baltimore and Northern Virginia
area, to provide ongoingdialogue, peer relationships, and state of the
art learning. Groups meet at breakfast, lunch and evenings to provide
members with flexible, indepth learning options.
Organization Development Directory of Consultants
- Many members and potential members function as external consultants.
The Directory of Consultants offers members additional exposure and marketing
options via the internet—at a price hard to beat!
Expanded Website Services - The purpose of CBODN.ORG
is to help the public and our members understand the services of the Chesapeake
Bay OD Network, and how those services match the dynamic, rapdily developing
work of the OD professional.
Professional Program Events
- Feature nationally and locally recognized leaders in the OD field. Speakers
have included Edie Seashore, Bill Issacs, Kathie Dannemiller, Bob Marshak,
Judith Katz, and Peter Senge, among many others .Event topics span interests
of new, mid-experience and senior level practitioners; and are organized
in a variety of formats, including presentations and workshops.
Member ListServs - New and renewing members are encouraged
to participate in gathering ideas via e-mail and e-group activities.
Membership Directory - Now available online, where
members are encouraged to update as needed and where each member can
also access
the most current information, important in a rapidly changing communication
setting. Members may also request a hard-copy of the directory, by asking
for it.
The President's Letter,
our monthly newsletter, features an updated calendar, and keeps members
informed of program events, SIG meetings, and other activities of the
Network, and additional programs of interest to members. Now available
online; it also continues to be available in print upon request.
The ChannelMarker, our professional journal, helps
new and more experienced practitioners build their publishing portfolios,
and at the same time, provides thoughtful, descriptions of theory and
practice developments to all of our members, and the public.
Job Hotline - CBODN office, with support from Career
Resource Professional Leaders, sends e-mail notices of long and short
term consulting opportunities as they arise.
Career Development - Eencourages a variety of presentations,
workshops and discussion/networking opportunities, often linked to conferences,
SIG meetings, and program events.
Member Services - CBODN office, with active guidance
from Membership Leaders, quickly answer questions, develop strategic service,
and aid in supporting ongoing member involvement.
National
OD Network - As a member of CBODN members are entitled to
a reduced rate membership fee, and are encouraged to participate in a
variety of ways at the national OD conference.
Partnerships - The Chesapeake Bay area abounds with
many professional associations that have similar and complementary interests
to the practice of Organization Development. CBODN actively reaches out
to these groups to foster jointly sponsored programs and other activities,
in part to "walk our talk" of valuing collaboration and sharing.
Volunteer Opportunities - Both short and longer term,
members may offer their talents develop OD leadership skills, and polish
their competencies, while being of service that is greatly appreciated.
Consider contributing by serving on the annual conference committee, co-ordinating
SIG activities, developing programs and program designs, expanding marketing/public
relation activities, functioning as a guest editor, or initiating a technology
service. Active volunteer service often leads to serving on the Leadership
Team, our governing board.
