Kate loves helping people make connections through discovery processes: to their own resources and to other people. In Kate’s background are many years managing organization change, team building, training, businessprocess design, and team facilitating both within a career in federal government management and in the private sector. Even in achieving business goals, Kate found the most excitement in sparking the fire of creativity in groups and then witnessing them putting that creativity to use.
Kate has her own business, Creative Facilitating. The foundation for Kate’s business is her passion, her feeling for the interconnectedness of all people, and her master’s degree in organizational learning earned at George Mason University. She is working in several sectors—non-profit, private for profit, and government. Her facilitator skills also get put to use in an experiential learning environment at Hemlock Overlook Center for Outdoor Education’s Center for Professional Development. Kate loves the chance to work in the natural setting for the revitalization it brings.
Kate’s youth was spent in Minnesota and while there she earned two bachelor’s degrees from the University of Minnesota, one in English and one in English education. Her daughter and son were both born and raised in Arlington where she still lives.
In her free time, Kate likes to walk and hike and play in her yard. She reads. And she loves music (live music is best!), especially jazz and blues—they appeal to her spontaneity and her sense of creativity.
