Joe Conroy

Chair of Administration
jconroy@cbodn.org

Joe has more than twenty years experience leading and managing financial institutions at the C-level. He has changed the business cultures of two publically-owned banks. At one bank, he led an Initial Public Offering, changing ownership from mutual to stock. Separately, he led the restructuring of a financially troubled $550M financial services firm.

The troubled company went through a three year change management process that returned it to profitability and regulatory compliance. During the restructuring of the bank, he formed a collaborative team setting that successfully addressed simultaneous issues from regulators, the board of directors, customers, media and stockholders. The collective thinking and professional execution of bank personnel was changed as a new company culture developed into a high-performing, admired financial services firm.

Joe has also had his own consulting practice serving the needs of financial institutions and retail service firms. He has provided advice to clients about management structures, succession planning, reorganization and customer retention. He has also been involved in planning start-up businesses and the development of a marketing feasibility study for minority organizers of a bank.

In addition, Joe has consulted at the World Bank and a consulting firm providing services to intelligence agencies. Also, he co-led a management and leadership initiative with an IT/IS contractor to align managers with federal contracting requirements using OD theory, practice and models.

Joe holds a Masters of Organization Development from the AU/NTL Program at American University.
